FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Montgomery County Celebrates "Music on the Mohawk" Summer Concert Series

FONDA, NY — Montgomery County is hitting the right note this summer with the launch of Music on the Mohawk, a county-wide summer concert series designed to energize our waterfront communities and celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal.

Each participating community already hosted its own popular concert series. This new, county-wide effort was designed to enhance and support those existing programs, allowing organizers to bring even more music to the heart of their towns during one of the most important tourism seasons in recent history.

“Music on the Mohawk is about more than entertainment — it’s about drawing people together in the places that make Montgomery County special,” said Montgomery County Executive Pete Vroman. “Whether you’re a local or a visitor, these concerts give you a reason to come out, enjoy the river and be immersed in the Erie Canal communities which call our community home.

Concerts will take place beginning in June and running through August:

• Saturday: Amsterdam
• Monday: St. Johnsville
• Tuesday: Canajoharie
• Thursday: Fort Plain
• Friday: Fonda

The Music on the Mohawk series received funding support from Montgomery County through a $35,000 allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, which were used to boost tourism and economic activity across the county’s downtowns and waterfronts.
